insatiability of idols. 8.9.13

"Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness." -Ecclesiastes 5:10

So true and applies so well to idols in general. Those who love anything more than they love God will never have enough of that one thing. How meaningless to think that whatever we love more than God brings true happiness. Proverbs speaks of the foolish, sinful man as stumbling through life like a blind man stumbling in the dark…always moving, yet never found. The fool remains in the dark for he is blind and unaware of his nature. He is unaware that his heart is designed by God to worship, 24 hours a day-7 days a week either worshiping the Creator or the created thing. Action. My sons, the sooner in life you can recognize the insatiability of our fallen nature and ease by which we love idols the better. Whether it is wealth, beauty, pride, health, people, our children, our wife…you name it, good or bad whatever the supreme object of our affection is will always fall short. Whats funny is that we function much like the blind man moving from one love, to another, to another…still strangely being surprised each time that is found lacking. Our nature is only redeemed when we view all details of life as passing through the hands of a loving God…it is only then we enjoy properly the created gifts while truly loving and worshipping the Creator God.
