Prayer-Simple and honest. 7.17.12 & 4.5.13

"Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. (Matthew 6:6 MSG)

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:6 ESV)

What is the right way to pray? How do we know when our heart and motive is right in the words we pray to God? What great instruction…First, find a quiet place alone, so as to be real and authentic removing the temptation and pressure to role-play "the super-spiritual, deep prayer guy." Then, just communicate as simply and honestly as possible, for this spirit will remove any focus from self to God…allowing Him to work, rewarding us with His grace and presence. Action. My sons, in life our pride, even in the very best of things, puts pressure on us to perform and role-play. Prayer with God is something divinely special…very hard to function intimately and honestly in public, for our concern for self always gets in the way. Cultivate the lifelong habit of communing with God privately, always seeking to be authentic…simple and honest in speech. Do this and you will be a blessed man experiencing Gods rich reward of His grace-filled presence.
