Reactions reveal the heart. 4.1.13

"In my experience, its much easier to act like a Christian than it is to react like one. Anyone can put on an act. But your reactions reveal what is really in your heart." -Mark Batterson.

If maturity of Christ-like character is God’s will and primary goal for our life, how do we reflect and see if we are really growing and maturing as children of God. Our actions are for sure a primary revealer, but it is really our "in the moment" reactions that give the clearest view of the true condition of our heart. We can fabricate our behavior to some degree, but we can’t fake our subconscious behavior defaults. Action. My sons…wise, skillful, faithful men in life are emotionally intelligent and accurately self-aware. By Gods design, knowing the source of their balance in life is found in the continual reflection and assessment of their heart. Be a wise man, letting your reactions and responses in life be a great teacher, revealing the true condition of the heart while shedding light on the areas where we must continue to grow, washing them in prayer and Gods word. Rest in the freedom of our Savior and the good news of the gospel for the free, blessed man knows growth of character is the pursuit, not perfection…for one is life’s great adventure and the other life’s great curse.
