Measure twice. Cut once. 9.21.11 & 10.26.12

A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything-or destroy it! A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell. (James 3:5, 6 MSG)

Measure twice, cut once is a great analogy in construction…for once something is cut it can never be put back together, so one better make sure the cut is where they want it. The thought process is the same for our mouth and the words we choose to speak. A wise man thinks twice about the words that come out of his mouth, for he knows the mouth is the source of greatest good or evil in the world. Once words are spoken they can never come back, so much like the wood, one better make sure they are accurate and true…measured and spoken correctly. Human speech God designed literally to accomplish anything or destroy everything…being the greatest source of blessing or cursing straight from pit of hell. Action. My sons, be very wise in the words you speak in life, think and measure your speech carefully, always seeking the encouragement and betterment of the listener. Your speech in life will either be the main source of great blessing and achievement or horrendous cursing and destruction…and it will all depend on if you view your words as a means of building up or tearingdown the world around you.
