How thinking is transformed. 9.20.12

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)

God matures and sanctifies us as believers by transforming our thinking, so that we will more accurately reflect His character rather than that of the world’s. In doing so, we bring great honor and glory to Him, while better understanding His will for our life and those things originally designed by Him for our greatest pleasure and joy. Practically though…what tools has God ordained to transform our thinking? His Word, the church body and fellowship with other believers are the three pillars anchoring the advancing Christians life. Remove any one of them one’s Christian walk instantly suffers…remove all of them and one has no Christian life, with the soul withering away to ultimate death. Action. My sons, the cliche rings true, what you put in is what comes out. Wisely obey that which God has ordained, anchor your soul and life in His Word, his local church body and fellowship with honorable, godly men…this is how your thinking will be redeemed to function more how God originally intended. In addition, guard your eyes for they are the windows to your soul, don’t allow trash and garbage in…instead actively nourish your soul with encouraging people and good books…adding greater strength to the three pillars that God uses in redeeming and renewing the Christian’s life.
