Evidences of laziness. 9.18.12

The lazy person claims, "There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!" As a door swings back and forth on its hinges, so the lazy person turns over in bed. Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth.
Lazy people consider themselves smarter than seven wise counselors. (Proverbs 26:13-16 NLT)

Laziness gives evidence of itself just like any other character trait. There is the sinful side of us all that struggles with sloth and ease, yet proverbs also warns of the fool who is at the core lazy. The fool suffers from broken theology, a distorted view of the character of God and His plan for the life and work of a man. The fool suffers from an inordinate, insatiable appetite for ease and comfort which can be ease to spot. The fool’s life is continually evidenced by excuse making, a love of sleep, an unwillingness to take advantage of the opportunities directly in front of them and an unteachable spirit springing from a know-it-all attitude. Action. My sons, these tendencies exist and show themselves in us all. Being aware of the evidences of sloth is key to combating them. In life, beware of the fool as you encounter people in life…men like these you’d be wise not to impart responsibility to for you’ll be the one stuck holding the bag. The wise man, uses behavior not words to cultivate a keen eye and discernment in evaluating the character of themselves and others.
