What to look for in a wife. 7.6.11 & 7.20.12

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Proverbs 31: 30

Charm and beauty are deceptive and fleeting, in that what is highly valued by a man before getting married, is one of the least important things in maintaining a blessed, thriving relationship with one’s wife after being married. The marriage and home is the greatest source of blessing or cursing in a mans life. Much of that blessing is dependent upon what a man values and looks for in a future wife. Charm and beauty distracts a man from searching deep into the character and spiritual condition of the woman. The world and even most women value beauty over godly character…when in reality the blessedness of a marriage has nothing to do with beauty and everything to do with the spiritual heart condition of the husband and wife. Action. My sons, listen well…for your pride and lust can cause great cursing in your life…if you don’t evaluate your future wife according to Gods measuring stick. Beauty will of course attract you to her, but don’t be blinded and foolish to the quality of her heart and walk with God…for in your life, your wife will always be the source of greatest blessing or greatest cursing.
