Money’s pull. 1.10.12

Give freely and become more wealthy;

be stingy and lose everything.

The generous will prosper;

those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:24, 25 NLT)

God knows far better than we do how money can do many weird and bizar things to our heart. The generous and the stingy alike take on many forms, with varying degrees of the wealthy and poor managing moneys sinful pull in differing ways. For the wealthy man hoarding may become the struggle…his eyes forever being addicted to the lust for more and more. The poor man this side of heaven having a broken identify as well, experiences money’s pull in different ways, yet is still tested by the idol of our age. The middle class being no more free from the testing gaze of our Savior, as well intentioned budgeting can easily become the source of our trust and security…for one never really knows the true source of their peace until bank accounts run low. The act of giving, releasing and investing wealth is a sovereign means designed by God to break money’s stronghold on our heart…by letting go. The call to give generously as well as the simple command to tithe is just as much for our good as others…for He knows that the more our heart clings and hoards money, the more of the blessed life we loose. Action. My sons, true wealth is freedom…freedom from money’s pull on our heart. Don’t be deceived…this tension is a constant…each man being continually tested throughout his life by the idol of money, no matter his level of living. Pursue in your life true wealth which begins with a generous condition of the heart.
