The self-governing man. 5.19.11 & 1.5.12

You lazy fool, look at an ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do. Proverbs 6:6-7

The differences and habits between effective men and noneffective men are many times small, but when magnified over time…the implications can be quite big. Whether it is in the cultivation of character, family or business, the men that seem to always rise above and stick out are the men who are self-governing in conduct and behavior. It is probably one of the strongest defining traits of a mature godly man and his levels of fruitfulness in life. Like the ant, the mature man imposes discipline and effort upon themselves knowing it is needed, while the lazy, immature man waits around for it to be forcefully imposed on them by outside influences. Action. My sons, strength of character and effectiveness in all areas of life require self imposed diligence and discipline, don’t wait for circumstances to reveal the need for it…for by then it is too late and the damage is already done.
