Message of the Marketplace. 12.9.11

Do you hear Lady Wisdom calling? Can you hear Madame Insight raising her voice? She’s taken her stand at First and Main, at the busiest intersection. Right in the city square where the traffic is thickest, she shouts, "You-I’m talking to all of you, everyone out here on the streets! Listen, you idiots-learn good sense! You blockheads-shape up! Don’t miss a word of this-I’m telling you how to live well, I’m telling you how to live at your best. My mouth chews and savors and relishes truth-I can’t stand the taste of evil! You’ll only hear true and right words from my mouth; not one syllable will be twisted or skewed. You’ll recognize this as true-you with open minds; truth-ready minds will see it at once. Prefer my life-disciplines over chasing after money, and God-knowledge over a lucrative career. For Wisdom is better than all the trappings of wealth; nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her. (Proverbs 8:1-11 MSG)

Lady wisdom aka knowledge of God, takes her stand at First and Main, the busiest intersection in the heart of the city where traffic is thickest. Noting how she didn’t take her stand in the peaceful country side where life and pace is easy, but instead choosing to take her message to the city, where culture and the pursuits of the world collide. She brings with her a strong simple message to the marketplace…"listen up knuckleheads, snap out of your rat-race like haze…I bring Good News, knowledge of your Creator God; one who supplies the good life that you are running so hard after. Savor Gods life-disciplines and knowledge instead of mindlessly chasing money and a lucrative career. Listen, Gods wisdom is worth far more anyway than all the trappings of wealth." Action. My sons, in life don’t shy away from the First and Main’s of life…for where all the sinful expressions of our world collide, there is the greatest need for our Savior. This is the call and message of the marketplace- "the busy-life," like Lady Wisdom, pointing others to where true life is found in Christ. Don’t be decieved, the peace and rest you long for is a condition of the heart, not a circumstance or a location in life…pursue peace amongst the storms, traffic and fast-paced world we live in today; don’t run from it…take a stand in the middle of it.
