"Competition is enjoyable when it is a means to perfect ones skills; when it becomes the end in itself, it ceases to be fun." -Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Competition is good, designed by God as a means of improving and advancing all aspects of his creation; people included. In its broken state competition is either avoided completely or engaged in excessively as a means of defining ones identity. The effects of competition can be taken personally exposing our pride and insecurity or they can be received as a helping hand pushing us to grow and advance. The trick is in managing our pride, which exists in us all…not loosing our joy or contentment when we are challenged in some area of life. The goal of competition is not soley winning, it is a tool designed by God to bring out our maximum potential. The redeemed goal of competition is the most effective use of what one has been given by God, which sometimes wins and sometimes loses. We rest in knowing the best opportunity for winning is found when we are best maximizing our potential. Action. My sons, embrace and welcome competition in all areas in life. Be secure in who you are before God, but seek out God honoring competition…knowing it is a wonderful tool for maximizing effectiveness and fruitfulness in life as you strive to faithfully steward Gods investment in you. Don’t forget He loving invests resources in His people with expectations of a return.
