Satisfaction and contentment: the true treasure. 11.2.11

Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out again to the sea. Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content. (Ecclesiastes 1:7, 8 NLT)

Life is wearisome; for in our natural state, broken in our relationship with our Creator, we are much like the sea…continually being filled yet never being full. Mankind is perpetually lost, for if you were to give us all we ever wanted…at that moment it would sease being all we ever wanted. Something about that seems broken, yet providentially designed into our nature. We are created to pursue satisfaction and contentment, while knowing also that the very created things…absent from a knowledge of their Creator are designed to fail us as well. Action. My sons, satisfaction and contentment are the elusive treasures we long for…the truly blessed life. They can only be found in proper relationship with God, knowing the more clearly we see His hand in all things the more our satisfaction, joy and contentment will grow. Desire to be this man, one who seeks to see Gods hand, purpose and design in each detail of his day…do this and you’ll be truly blessed.
