Don’t try and be someone you’re not. 9.14.11

Successful careers are not planned. They develope when people are prepared for opportunities because they know their strengths, their method of of work, and their values. Knowing where one belongs can transform an ordinary person-hardworking and competent but otherwise mediocre-into an outstanding performer. -Peter Drucker, "Managing Oneself"

"Don’t try and be someone you’re not!"…the parental advice for kids, holds much truth throughout ones life. God designs and creates an individuals life with all their experiences, personality, strengths and weaknesses, etc…so how broken is it for us to look at others and try to function/be like someone else. We are destined for frustration and failure. Perhaps we are so lost in our own life, that we admire and cling what others do thinking maybe there lies the answer. When the answer is knowing who we are in Christ, how he created us and where he has sovereignly placed us. Action. My sons, be thoughtful and prayerful in discovering what you enjoy in life and where your strengths lie…don’t try to be like someone else for we are all created different. When it comes to a career do what you enjoy and are good at, don’t ever make a decision based on what a career pays…for that is a lifelong curse. True blessing and riches are enjoyed by men that work to uncover their designed niche in world seeking out joy and satisfaction in the daily process of their labor.
